The Rebutia ritteri is indigenous to Salta and Jujuy (Argentina), and Chuquisaca, Potosí and Tarija (Bolivia). This species forms small dark green globes that branch around the base. Nipples are arranged in spirals. Spines are thin and white. Central spines are gold in color. Flowers are showy, wide and fiery red with maroon throats.
