Bombax ellipticum
Description:
A large soft-wooded tree with green trunk; the large deciduous leaves of 5 leaflets finger-like, wine-red when young, later dark green; the flower buds composed of 5 purplish petals stuck together, later bursting open and revealing a bundle of delicate, silky rose-pink stamens 4 inches long, tipped with golden anthers. This particular trunk-caudiciform is 3.5 feet wide, 5 feet long, and 3 foot tall. The new growth branches grow fast and tall.
