Deciduously leaved succulent with large stem, very spiny with long thorns. Forms sparsely branched shrubs with thick shoots made rigid by the thorns; the long shoots are also covered with short shoots Leaves are longitudinally oval and hairy on both sides; inflorescenes occur on longs stems, with numerous, dense, small cyathia; and cyathophylls are upright and yellowish green.
