Description:

the "red stapelia". Its stems are upright with fine soft hairs, and are bluntly quadrangular. Flowers occur in cymes of 4 to 5, opening one after the other, with a short, bell-shaped tube and separated, long-lobed, dark-red, diagonal weals; fine hairs appear at the tips, and longer hairs appear on the margins.
