Description: 

handsome slender columns branch from a usually buried caudex; branches subscylindric and lightly 4 to 5 angled, milky bluish-green, contrasting with the coppery brown spine-shields from which rise a pair of thorns. In late winter the upper portions are lined with vivid yellow cyathia.
